On this episode of Property Brothers Buying and Selling, Jonathan and Drew know their clients Julie and Paul need to find a new, forever home for their growing family. The challenge? Julie and Paul didn’t want to be burdened with a bigger mortgage.
Upon entering the old home, viewers can quickly identify the main challenges: a tight foyer, a tiny kitchen with lack of storage, a small dining room and a cluttered living room. Other issues also included poor ventilation, dated tiling, a picture rail throughout the living room, and uninviting paint colour.
While Drew was out showing Julie and Paul potential new homes, Jonathan had his work cut out. Opening up the space and staging the home with sophisticated furniture would significantly increase the value of the home.
THE LIVING ROOM UPDATE
In order to create a distinct living room space, Jonathan had to remove portions of a wall. He also installed new flooring throughout the main floor, gave the walls a fresh coat of paint, and furnished the living room with a number of Sunpan pieces. This living room transformed from toddler chaos to entertaining paradise.
Sunpan furniture was sourced for this entire living room space, featuring our Cathedral loveseat, Rialto dining chairs, Tribecca coffee table, Storm console table, and Dalton bookcases. Adding a pop of colour to the space is our Lord of the Links art piece.
One of the most stunning pieces in this living room is Sunpan’s marble Tribecca coffee table at the centre it is surrounded by the Cathedral loveseat, the round Dakota end table, and a pair of our Rialto occasional chairs. What a stylish transformation!
THE KITCHEN UPDATE
What was once cluttered and dark became clean and bright. Updated white cabinetry and countertops elevated the space. For a perfect modern touch, a wall was removed and a breakfast bar featuring our Bancroft adjustable barstools was installed.
A clear flow between the kitchen and dining room was also created after removing the wall which exuded freshness with Sunpan’s Tista dining table featuring a glass tabletop, and Natalia dining chairs in a blue fabric. The Shimmer art piece was a perfect tie-in with the décor and design of this space.
